Positive: The apartment is newly renovated, nicely decorated and well equipped. Central location.
Negative: The check in was stressful and unprofessional. I booked the apartment a few hours before the advertised check in time of 5pm. I messaged ahead of time to request a 5pm check in and got no response. I tried calling the number provided for the host several times before and after check in time with no response. At 5.30pm, after standing outside the apartment for 1/2hr I got a message from the host saying there was a problem with payment not having been successful. I messaged back to say that booking.com had already taken the money from my bank account, which was the case. No response from the host. I called booking.com and was left on the phone (mostly on hold) for over two hours as they messaged and tried calling the host repeatedly, but got no response. Booking.com explained that they handle the payment, the host didn't seem to understand this, but either way were not responding. Finally, at 7.30pm, after standing outside for 2.5 hours, the host sent messages accepting my booking, but asking for a 300 euro deposit to be paid online before issuing the code for the key box. I paid it and got access. Frustratingly Booking.com wouldn't let me cancel the booking whilst the host was not responding, as they said they needed the hosts authorisation to cancel for free. This was despite them not responding to me or booking.com, and leaving me in limbo standing on the street way past the advertised check in time. The host held the deposit for almost a full week. They had the audacity to send a message before check out saying if I stayed over the check in time I would be charged 50 euro per hour. Would they like to refund me 50 euro for each of the 2.5 hours I was left standing on the street while they couldn't be bothered to pick up the phone or respond to messages? On a final note, not related to check in. The apartment is located across the road from a late bar with music and people chatting outside.
Summary: Nice apartment, but stressful and unprofessional check in.
