Positive: Great location, close to Nungwi beach and the town center, with excellent restaurants nearby and small markets for souvenirs. They have a private pool but at another hotel; breakfast is served at that same hotel (just a 3-minute walk away), it was good. They offer a free shuttle to the hotel’s “private” beach (a 5-minute drive). The meals and drinks are very good, though the staff here are not as friendly as at other places where we ate. Still, it’s a great place to relax. The room was very nice.
Negative: Before we arrived, we sent a message explaining we would arrive before the check-in time, and the hotel confirmed it was okay — so we expected the room to be ready. However, when we arrived, they asked us to wait until check-in time because the room wasn’t ready yet, which was understandable. The problem came at check-in time when they asked us to wait another 5 minutes because they were finishing up... but after waiting 45 minutes at reception, they finally informed us the room was ready. We didn’t like the way we were treated — it wasn’t the wait itself that was the problem, even though it was 45 minutes past check-in, the bigger issue was the lack of honesty about the waiting time. This had never happened to us before, and we didn’t appreciate it. I don’t know if this is hotel policy or not, but our room was not cleaned — something that had never happened during our stays in Tanzania before.
