You are looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway with your family or friends. You appreciate having a spacious home environment in a safe and quiet neighborhood as your home base while you explore the amazing city around you. You and your group are people who care about others and when you travel are conscious of your impact.
Our home is the perfect place for family and friends to come together, whether it’s the family you were born to, the family you chose, or both. (Note: this is a family home with nice neighbors who are our friends...this is not a party house.)
We fell in love with this house over 20 years ago, made it our home, and raised our children here. We cooked and dined together, and shared stories and laughs and games with friends and family. Although we are now spending more and more time out of town, our home holds too many sweet memories to part with it. But, we are delighted to share it with you and the people you make memories with. We think it is your turn to come together and share great food, amazing music, stories, and moments in a home perfectly situated for exploring Los Angeles.
Spacious Comfy Home: The house contains five spacious bedrooms and four bathrooms, a large family room/library, a well-outfitted kitchen, a great room/living room with wood-burning fireplace, a private deck for daytime sunning or late night stargazing, a tuned piano for singalongs, big picture windows that look out on a peaceful and lush backyard patio and playhouse, and work desks are abundant for families like ours that blend work and play. There is also a basketball hoop in the front driveway, as well as a number of other spaces for hanging out, playing, gathering. (Please note that use of the yard and balcony MUST end no later than 11pm, so as not to disturb the sleep and peace of our neighbors.)
The house itself is topped with solar panels. It is important to our family that we have a low carbon footprint and we work hard to make this living space as sustainable as possible.
Sanitized for you. We allow at least 1 night between guest stays and have the house deep cleaned and sanitized before each visit for your safety and security. This is a much better option than a hotel, where there is a constant flow of unknown people and germs!
Tons of Amenities: We have six brand new memory foam beds: two kings, two queens, and two twins (that convert to a third king).
The largest two bedrooms are set up with brand new comfy convertible sleeper sofas (none of those awkward metal pullouts!) to be easily used for two adults to have sweet private hang out time or for parents and young children to sleep four comfortably. Couches in the living room (downstairs) and family room/library (upstairs) also turn into comfy pullout beds for even more potential sleeping spaces.
These two upstairs bedrooms share access to a peaceful deck overlooking the beautiful yard and bottlebrush tree that attracts butterflies and hummingbirds at the right time of year. Perfect spot for morning coffee or late afternoon wine.
We love to cook, and the kitchen is full of appliances and gadgets. There are lots of plates and serving dishes. We are also big connoisseurs of music, movies and reading. You’ll find a full library filled with tons of great books for adults and kids. We hope you’ll enjoy our massive CD collection, as well as an assortment of different musical instruments from around the world, and a substantial selection of both children’s and popular movies on VHS and DVD. Music players both upstairs and down provide great soundtracks for your time here. Four televisions give you access to your own streaming entertainment. There are also several lifetimes’ worth of games and puzzles to pass the time.
Central Location: We are in Mar Vista, a West Los Angeles Oasis! Hidden from the world, yet close to everything. Mar Vista offers a hot restaurant scene (we provide lots of restaurant tips and things to do nearby).
We’re also just a few minutes from all the amazing restaurants on Sawtelle just north of Olympic. It’s just 15 minutes to the beach, Culver City, Abbot Kinney, Westwood and LAX. We are 20 minutes from Century City and Beverly Hills, or Downtown LA and a plethora of Santa Monica Mountains hiking trails…and it’s just a little further to Hollywood. You’ll be just 5 minutes from either the 405 or 10 freeway on-ramps which give you easy access to downtown LA, the San Fernando Valley the South Bay and beyond.
There is a great park within walking distance with picnic areas, basketball courts, a public pool and kids camp (in the summer), tennis courts, a soccer field, baseball fields and a hockey rink, as well as a large playground for younger children.
PLEASE NOTE: House rules: Absolutely no Parties. No outdoor gatherings of any size between 10pm-7am, which is both City of LA law and common courtesy in a quiet family neighborhood.
