Cosy Apt. in Tuscan hamlet ♥ Couples Escape ♥ Bird's eye View | Apartment in Agliano Peralla

1 Bedroom Apartment in Camaiore, Agliano Peralla
GEMELLI APARTMENT is part of the medieval hillside hamlet of Peralta restored by a sculptor and with medieval origins (see description below). A deliciously cosy apartment with a bird's eye view of the valley, the hills, and the sea beyond. As well as being ideal in the summer months, it also makes a wonderful winter retreat, with a cosy wood-burning stove.
You enter this apartment from its terrace. The comfortable living room has a fantastic view over the valley, as does the double bedroom (which has an ensuite bathroom with a shower). The living room opens up onto the terrace, which is sheltered by olive groves and has a lovely view towards the hills. The terrace has comfortable chairs for lazing in the sun and a shaded dining area. The little kitchen is well equipped and the whole atmosphere is quite delightful and romantic.
~ Peralta Tuscany ~
Located in a spectacular setting in the Tuscan hills and nestled amongst olive groves, Peralta's stone walls are covered with bougainvillaea, lemon trees and jasmine that make the hamlet seem like paradise. The stunning views from Peralta take in the valley of Camaiore, the surrounding hills, and the sea beyond, making a perfect oasis for people seeking tranquillity and beauty. Peralta has an unselfconscious beauty that is hard to define and that both seduces and inspires its visitors.
The hamlet was restored with great love and imagination by the international sculptor Fiore de Henriquez and was originally intended to be an artist’s retreat. She created a place that is quite unique, very inspiring, and somewhat bohemian. Peralta was Fiore's home up to her death in June 2004, and it is still privately owned. One can see her work throughout the hamlet. Her sculpture everywhere and the way she restored and designed the buildings create a special atmosphere and character. Repairs and renovations are undertaken where necessary, always respecting Fiore’s original designs, and the place has therefore retained its essential inspiring and quite unique character.
A previous guest offered this description of Peralta:
'The atmosphere is relaxed, the people helping have a rare quality of being there but conspicuously absent unless needed. This adds to the calm of the place, giving a feel of personal space and privacy. It has a sense of a well-run hotel, without the formality, and the ambience of a private villa without the expense. I was fortunate to have cast an eye over a few of the other properties available; all are very well appointed and would not fail to please. Whether you are wanting to collect your thoughts, relax, explore the region, write a novel, or paint a masterpiece this has to be the place to visit.'
Peralta is surrounded by lovely walking country with marked trails through the olive groves and hills dense with chestnut trees and known for their wildflowers in spring and autumn. Walks range from 50 minutes to a delightful restaurant in Torcigliano, an adjoining village (extremely popular with our guests), to a three-hour hike up to the peak of the Mount Prana above Peralta. A short car ride away takes you to a mountain river where it is lovely to picnic and enjoy the refreshing water on a hot summer day.
The closest shops (grocer and greengrocer) are just minutes down the hill where there is also a bar/pizza restaurant. Camaiore, just ten minutes down the hill in the valley, is a charming little market town with everything practical you could possibly need, including an excellent delicatessen with wonderful Tuscan produce, hams, cheeses etc. A great wine store, restaurants, cafés, banks, post office, a market every Friday and so on. It is not a major tourist attraction and so has retained the essential buzz and charm of a small Tuscan town.
The world-renowned sculptor's town of Pietrasanta is just a 20-minute drive away and with its many cafes, restaurants and boutique stores is a wonderful place to spend a late afternoon or evening. Shopping in Lucca or Forte Dei Marmi is legendary. Porto Venere & the Cinque Terre are just over an hour away. Carrara and the impressive marble quarries are well worth a visit.
It is wonderful to return to Peralta, an oasis of peace far away from the busy crowds down on the coast.
Terrace, Kitchen & Bar
At the centre of Peralta is its large terrace, covered by wisteria offering cool shade in the day and intimacy at night. Fiore’s bronze sculpture of The Phoenix sits on the edge of the terrace, wings spread as if it is about to fly off over the valley. The sweeping 180 degrees view is marvellous, taking in the valley of Camaiore, the hills and the sea beyond. Sunsets are spectacular, and enjoying a glass of wine or an Aperol Spritz from Peralta’s little bar beside the terrace makes a great end to the day and an opportunity to meet other guests. During your stay you can taste some typical, delicious Tuscan dishes from Peralta’s kitchen. The kitchen opens every day except Wednesday, and you can either book a table and enjoy a candlelit dinner under the wisteria covered pergola with its splendid view over the valley or take the meal away and enjoy it in the privacy of your accommodation, the choice is yours. The bar is also open every morning for a real Italian coffee or cappuccino. Some basic breakfast options are available upon request.
The swimming pool
Peralta’s swimming pool is set on the highest terrace above the hamlet. The pool is shared between guests staying at Peralta and most of the days it is not busy. It has been referred to as a ‘jewel’ by previous guests! The panoramic view is outstanding and especially wonderful at sunset time. The backdrop to the swimming pool is huge rocks, with platforms hewn out for sunbathing and surrounded with aloe and cactus plants. The pool is not large, measuring 8m x 3.50m, but deep enough to enjoy. Teak sunbeds and parasols –the perfect calm place to relax and soak up the sun. The swimming pool is not heated – we usually open it from the end of April until the beginning of October, depending on the weather.
Pets are welcome.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome at Peralta; however, we would appreciate it if you let us know in advance. An additional charge of €40 to cover the extra cleaning will be required. At Peralta we love pets –two lovely and friendly cats that live with us will be walking around your property, sleeping around the hamlet and visiting your accommodation if you let them in.

It has a total of 18 bedrooms and 15 bathrooms in its various self-catering houses and apartments and it offers the opportunity of both privacy and/or all being together. It makes a wonderful location for such gatherings: weddings, birthdays, family get-togethers and reunions, retreats, workshops and so on. We can take all the tedious organising of such an event out of your hands, taking the stress away and leaving you to concentrate on your guests and enjoy the time together.
