Located in the beautiful and historic Shaw district where a 10-15 minutes walk takes you to the Mount Vernon Metro Station and to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center! A 30 minute walk takes you to the National Mall!
This unit is in a great location! Located in Shaw, this unit is a 15-20 minute walk to the DC Convention Center. There are 2 metro stations in walking distance to the unit (about 4 blocks/a 15-20 minute walk to each), 2 bus stops right outside of the apartment and free street parking. There are many restaurants and bars in the neighborhood within a 3 to 8 blocks radius.
This unit is a well lit one bedroom/one bathroom basement apartment with a kitchen and full laundry.
There is a queen bed and a convertible futon.
The bathroom comes with a standing shower and a pedestal sink .
The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans and a full 4 burner gas range and an electric oven :)
There is a 40' LCD TV with cable and a Blu Ray player with smart apps like Netflix and HBOMAX. We also just installed a Roku with Live TV streaming! Also, the WiFi connection is quite strong.
This apartment also has a walk score of 91!!!!!

Summary: Loved that I could book a dog-friendly place so early on, but at the end of the day, this stay was too expensive for the experience. All started out ok. Allen and Juliet ensured a smooth check-in/check-out process, and even met me early one morning to replace a broken key. I also emailed them early on when I noticed issues with very loud sounds coming from the fridge, as well as multiple rats running around the adjacent yard. They were very responsive and said that the fridge would be fixed and that they would contact the city for abatement. BUT they didn't seem to fix the issues. The fridge issue eventually progressed--it stopped working and made burnt smells. No fridge/freezer most of the stay :( Regarding the rats, no change--I'm not sure how quickly the city responds to abatement requests, but this property shouldn't have been listed with so many rats in the yard! My dog peed near the hidey-holes to stave them off, but it didn't help much. Property is in the basement and steps are steep and slippery when wet, so I do not recommend for elderly folks (I fell) or anyone traveling with a lot of luggage to carry up/down. The shower is not ideal for tall people (low ceiling was a challenge, I'm 5'6"). Transit and dog park were a plus, but the area is a bit sketchy at times, and dogs must take care to avoid broken glass on the street. AC/fan system was unpredictable--ok for those who like the warm, but do not recommend if you need below 73. Also much darker than the photos!
