These guest homes were thoughtfully built with exceptional attention to detail including porcelain floor tiles, high teak ceilings, stone feature wall's handcrafted by local craftsman & stylish details for an inviting and relaxing feel.
Admire the endless ocean & mountain views from the large covered deck leading off both the main living and bedroom areas.
Each guest home has a two bedrooms with large sliding glass doors opening onto a large covered deck with ocean and valley views arranged with breakfast tables, loungers & comfy seating.
The kitchens are fully equipped units for preparing meals. The kitchen island with seating includes a cooktop and built-in range for ease of cooking plus socializing with family and friends while preparing snacks & mealtimes. A full-sized fridge to keep your perishables fresh and your drinks cold. A microwave and dishwasher for convenience complete the single wall kitchen with island.
The great room is equipped with a wall mounted television, a sofa, lounge chair, coffee table & side tables to enjoy socializing, watching a movie and spending time with family and friends after a day of exploring the area. A dining table finishes the space where you can sip cocktails as the sun sets over the horizon.
Good-looking bedrooms are comprised of high-quality queen-size mattresses coupled with mattress toppers, soft bamboo sheets and comfy quilts & duvets handy for the cool mountain air at night. A large closet space for your belongings with luggage stands are available to unpack efficiently.
Each guest home has two modern 3/4 bathrooms designed with straight clean lines and uncluttered counter space and ample lighting; a guest bathroom and an ensuite bathroom.
The guest bathroom has a single sink vanity with a cupboard and drawers, a walk-in glass shower, toilet & plenty of hooks, shelving and mirrors for your personal hygiene activities.
The en suite bathroom has a double sink vanity with bottom shelf and drawers, a large walk-in glass shower with double shower heads, toilet, plenty of shelving, hooks and mirrors for all your grooming needs.
Fluffy bath towels are available as well as darker hand towels for makeup removal. A selection of beach towels is provided for trips to the beach.
The guest homes are within a privately owned gated tropical rainforest 3.7 acre mountain property at approximately 1300 feet above the sea. Surrounded by lush vegetation, canopy trees with an enticing array of wildlife including sloths, a nearly endless array of monkeys, many types of butterflies and 1000's of bird species - your tropical jungle escape awaits.
Guests are welcome to make use of the in-house property trail. We have carved a trail that goes from end to end of the property - a good 15-minute brisk walk or 30-minute meandering stroll, it's all up to you.
Don't worry about missing your fitness routine while on vacation if that is your thing. Located onsite is an open-air gym guests are welcome to use. We also have onsite qualified personal trainers and instructors who can assist you with your gym time while here whether it is by scheduling a strength training session or a yoga class.
Whether it's hiking, biking, running or walking, the surrounding area just off our property has access to many trails & beautiful vistas you can easily get to for those early morning or late afternoon sunrises and sunsets, not to mention the wildlife you will encounter.
Playa Hermosa is a dark sand stretch of 7 kilometres (4.3 miles) of beach known for consistent surfing waves and an easy-going, laid back atmosphere. It is a short 9-minute car ride down the mountain road from the guest homes. If you are looking to experience the best of Central America, make sure to hit the beach for surfing (or other beach activities)!
Please note beginner surfers are advised to start in Jaco Beach as the riptides and swells in Playa Hermosa are large and can be very dangerous for beginners.
There are several local beachfront restaurants along the coast line for you to visit and enjoy the local cuisine. During high season, often there are surf competitions and beach parties along with weekly events from local musicians, artisans and DJ's.
Jaco is a thriving beach town with a growing population of approximately 12,000 people that is a 20-minute drive from the guest houses. As the closest beach town from the capital of San Jose, it is a favourite destination for locals and tourists alike. Jaco is the most developed beach town in Costa Rica! You can find everything such as pharmacies, restaurants, supermarkets, banks, ATM's, souvenir stores, car rentals, all-inclusive resorts, spas, & specialty shops.
It has all the amenities from local sodas to explore local cuisine to ice cream shops to weekly Farmers' Market and everything in between to make your stay at The Mountain Costa Rica a memorable one. Many travellers use Jaco as a hub to explore many close by towns and attractions.
Owners live on the property in a separate private residence and are always available for advice on dining, site-seeing, adventure tours, local culture, farmer markets, and local events. We own several dogs so if you see Nash, ZaZa or Lucy about on the property, please feel free to give them a pat and send them back to our place.
