Location: Historical Center of Tavira, approx. 100 meter from the main square at the Old Roman Bridge

Description:
Tavira is an ideal place to stay for entertaining and relaxing as it is situated on the edge of the Ria Formosa natural reserve park which produces sea salt and has a myriad of wild life including flamingos and pretty butterflies. The water ways are busy with yachts, fishing boats and ferries particularly in the summer when visitors hop across to the Island of Tavira. The Island has a good choice of restaurants in an otherwise un-spoilt area of outstanding natural beauty. The area boast a great variety of restaurants and cafe's and is an ideal place to use as a base to explore the Algarve, it's many beautiful beaches, water sports and the golf courses near by. Benamor golf is the nearest 18 hole golf course approx. 2,5 kilometer down the road. The golf courses of Quinta da Ria and Quinta de Cima are less than a 10 minutes drive away.
The apartment is located approx. 100 meters from the main square in front of the Old Roman bridge, you just walk outside from the apartment and follow the Rua da Liberdade. It is a short 2 minute walk. All amenities are within walking distance (a car is not needed) from this very well presented, stylish luxury apartment. The property consists of a spacious, light and bright living room with dining area, adjacent fully fitted and equipped kitchen; all in open plan design. Both good size double bedrooms have wardrobes. Modern bathroom with walk-in shower, vanity, w.c. and bidet. The very large and private terrace is a real gem to have, as outdoor space in this part of town is usually rather scarce. The access to the terrace is from the kitchen which is positioned between the living room and the terrace. There are sun loungers, a parasol and a table & chairs. The apartment has air conditioning in all bedrooms. The double height faulted ceilings give a very airy feel to this unique property. Direct access by staircase from street level to the apartment.

Summary: We stayed from mid-January to mid-March, 2024. This apartment has a very compact, modern kitchen, lovely bathroom, and great outdoor space. The decor and the view from the master bedroom down Rua da Liberdade to the old bridge is the stuff of fairytales. The inclusion of Canadian and US TV channels in the cable package was a wonderful bonus. You can walk to anywhere in town so a car is unnecessary except for touring the rest of the Algarve. The trains are excellent and frequent, and connect to almost everywhere. The station is a 10-15 minute walk, and another 2 minutes to the Lidl grocery store. The heating is less than ideal on cold winter days, although the high ceilings are probably great in summer heat. Be aware that there are 27 steps from street to the main level and 17 more to the master bedroom. (Good for working off gelato! - Try Delizia gelato, across the old bridge and a couple doors to the left Much better than the place just before the bridge.) We really enjoyed our stay in this apartment that was a great mix of old and modern styles.
