2 Bedroom Place in Marminiac

Boussagou is a small private hamlet comprising three stone farmhouses for rental (Pichoutou, Le Pigeonnier and La Longere), plus four barns. It nestles in twenty acres of pasture including a large walnut grove and numerous fruit trees, surrounded by beautiful forests providing endless tracks for walking and cycling (bikes provided free of charge). It is located between the Lot and Dordogne rivers, so is an ideal base from which to explore the famous local attractions.
But, if that sounds too energetic, then relax around the heated 12 x 5 metre pool until the sun goes down, perhaps grabbing a cold beer or ice-cream from the honesty bar.
Pichoutou is the oldest farmhouse in Boussagou and is named after the farmer who was born there, who enlightened us with the history of the farm and hamlet. The house has been lovingly renovated but retains many original features including a stone sink and large open fireplace. But don’t worry, it does come with a modern fitted kitchen too including cooker, microwave, fridge and washing machine.
Downstairs there is a spacious lounge with satellite TV with UK freeview channels, DVD player and Hi-Fi. This leads into a fully fitted kitchen diner. There is also a downstairs toilet. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one double and one twin, a bathroom with shower and toilet. There are old oak beamed ceilings throughout.
Pichoutou has private gardens overlooking our fields and woods. The terrace area includes a barbeque and patio furniture where you can relax and watch the sun go down.

Summary: We spent an incredible 2 weeks at Boussagou this summer where Bernie and Ken made us feel incredibly welcome and relaxed. The gite was perfect for us, exactly as expected from the photographs, well maintained and containing everything we needed. Our son adored helping feed the animals and checking for eggs from Suzy the chicken; the addition of dress up items, the play area and mountain bikes also made his stay particularly enjoyable. We enjoyed exploring the local Bastide towns (Rocamodour, Sarlat, Chateau Castellnaud to name a few) and kayaking down the Dordogne. The remainder of our time was spent relaxing at the gite and using the lovely pool. Bernie and Ken kindly invited us along to a Night Market with friends which was excellent; good company, food and wine! This was a truly fabulous 2 weeks - we could not have asked for more and we will certainly be back again. Thanks Bernie and Ken x
