Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: The location is beautiful, and the lodge was well equipped, clean, and very comfortable. All of the staff we met were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We had dinner in the pub restaurant one evening and it was really tasty with great service. Breakfast was also excellent—a lovely fry-up, and our son especially enjoyed the pancakes.

Negative: It would be nice if the lodge had a daily tidy-up service, even just making the beds and doing a quick refresh during the stay. We stayed during a very unusual hot spell at the end of May, so appreciate the temperatures were higher than normal, but air conditioning in the lodge would have made a big difference. There were fans provided, which was appreciated, but they were mostly just moving the hot air around rather than cooling the space. There were lots of ducks around, which was lovely, and our son absolutely loved that they came to say hello at our lodge door in the morning. The only downside was that there was duck poo across quite a lot of the outside areas, which wasn’t very pleasant. We appreciate that with so many ducks it’s probably a constant job, but more regular cleaning of those areas would make a difference.
