Positive: The apartment itself was beautiful, clean and in a fantastic central historic location. The beds were comfortable, communication with the host was excellent, and we really appreciated being allowed to check in early after an early flight. There were, however, a few basic things that we felt were missing. Although there were throws provided on the beds, they were very thin and seemed more suited to the sofas. There was no proper duvet or thicker blanket, and the apartment did get quite cold at night, so having some warmer bedding available would have made the stay more comfortable. There were also no kitchen paper towels, salt, oil or drinking water provided. For two people staying for five nights and six days, only two toilet rolls were provided, so we had to purchase more ourselves. This was a little disappointing, particularly as the Booking.com listing shows a basket with several toilet rolls. There were also no spare bin bags once the bins were full. As we had mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary, it would have been a lovely touch to have even a couple of small bottles of water or a simple welcome gesture, although we certainly didn’t expect anything special. The kitchen also had a hand blender, but there was no suitable jug or container to use it with, which made it difficult to actually use. Individually, these are small things, but when staying in a self-catering apartment, you generally expect the basic household essentials to be available. Having to go out and buy things like toilet rolls, paper towels and bin bags during a short holiday was a little inconvenient, especially considering the price of the stay. We have stayed in cheaper apartments and hotels where these basics were provided. Overall, it is a lovely apartment in an excellent location, and the host was very communicative and accommodating.
Negative: A few basic essentials were missing, including warmer bedding, kitchen paper towels, toilet rolls, bin bags and basic cooking supplies.
